Everything you need to know about corporate housing.

Looking for housing for your employees can seem difficult and overwhelming. To make it a bit easier, we’re answering some of the most common questions regarding corporate housing.

What should you keep in mind when choosing staff accommodation

The first thing you need to think about is what your requirements are. Usually, these include the location of the residence, the amount of employees in need of housing, and the budget. Consider whether or not you have more requirements than these, to make sure you know what you want when you start looking for corporate housing.

For most companies, it’s important that the residence is furnished, so that their employees can move in immediately. Other requirements could be, for example, a parking space or a balcony, and whether employees should live in single apartments, shared apartments, a shared house or any other type of housing.

In addition to the accommodation itself, think about what else might be needed – for example insurance, WiFi and cleaning. According to our recommendation, insurance should be a requirement to avoid high costs if the apartment is damaged. We also strongly recommend choosing housing where there is a contact person available, that the tenants can contact if they have any questions. Otherwise, questions about washing machines, parking or any damages will need to be answered by your company, which is difficult and time consuming when you’re not even in the right spot.

What is included when renting corporate accommodation?

When you know what your requirements are, the next question is of course what’s included in the rent, and what your company needs to finance besides that. There’s no answer that applies to all suppliers, which means you need to do your research to find out what different suppliers offer. For example, all corporate housing we offer is fully equipped and furnished, and always includes bed linen and towels, Wi-Fi, utilities such as water, electricity and heating, insurance, final cleaning and a contact person who is available 365 days a year. Depending on the residence, parking can be included, and we also offer weekly cleaning as an option.

What is the difference between corporate housing and serviced apartments?

Corporate housing, staff housing, staff accommodation, company residence – they all mean the same thing, which is simply a home that companies rent for their employees to live in. Exactly what is included can vary, as previously mentioned.

Serviced apartments, on the other hand, are different from corporate housing. Unlike the latter, serviced apartments can be rented by both individuals and companies. For people who need temporary accommodation for a couple of weeks or months, serviced apartments can be a good alternative. Although, it can of course also be used for employees.

The exact meaning of serviced apartments can vary depending on who you ask. In general though, they are furnished and have their own kitchen, but are not as equipped and personal as a corporate residence. However, serviced apartments usually offer or include hotel like services, such as house-keeping, a reception, and so on. Corporate housing is usually more like a home, with for example a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine or laundry room and similar amenities. Thus, corporate housing is often a more affordable alternative both for companies to rent, and for the tenant – that is, the employee – to live in. This makes corporate housing an attractive choice for companies.
